5 Key Advancements in Cosmetic Surgery

Cosmetic surgery has evolved over the years, beginning as early as ancient Rome and Greece as paintings and drawings depict historic cosmetic procedures to fix birth defects, war wounds, and other injuries. While these early attempts were crude at best, modern cosmetic surgery has made incredible advances over the years.

While cosmetic surgery has long been thought of as a perk of the rich and famous, this is no longer the case. As more and more people seek to reverse the effects of aging, weight gain, or injuries, cosmetic surgery has found its way to the general public. Sometimes the needs are merely cosmetic for a more youthful appearance, while other cases concern considerable health issues such as obesity or serious injuries. Medical advancements have brought the price down so that the general public can now enjoy the benefits of cosmetic surgery.

1.  Breast Implants

Breast augmentation has come a long way, mainly because of the efforts made to contain the silicone leakage which had given the surgery previously such a bad reputation. The procedure is now much safer as the material is better contained to prevent leakage into breast tissue, even after a long period of time. High cohesive silicone gel is now available for women. The gel is thicker than silicone and less prone to leakage.

The surgery is also considerably more painless thanks to the advancement of laser technology. Lasers can be used to make the incision in the breast in order to create the pocket. Studies have shown that breast augmentation lasers used in surgery have a reduced pain ratio of 1 to 100, and that lasers are 77% more effective at reducing pain as well as recovery times.

2.  Nose Surgery

Called rhinoplasty, nose surgery has undergone considerable advancement over the 20th century. There are many reshaping options available, and advances have made the surgery much more affordable as well as safer. You can have the nose of your dreams for much less than just a few years ago.

3.  Low Level Laser Liposuction

Ever since the FDA granted market clearance in 2004, low level lasers have gained great prominence in the liposuction field as a more painless procedure with extremely quick recovery times.  Although once believed to be an ineffective way to reduce body fat, low level laser treatments have become a proven way to eliminate excess body fat without invasive surgical procedures. Low level laser procedures don’t last very long, and recovery is quick. It is an outpatient procedure, and you can often return to work the next day. It’s a much more convenient procedure that gets you back on your feet. After 4 weekly treatments, you should notice a big difference, greatly reducing your weight without any scarring, cutting or tearing. Cold lasers are a proven way to eliminate fat through less invasive means that are much easier to recover from.

4.  Eyebrow Lifts

A little lift of the eyebrows can greatly enhance the face and send aging lines running for cover. This simple procedure can create dramatic results, reducing age by adding youth to the eyes. Both men and women stand to benefit. Because of the simplicity of the procedure, eye brow lifts aren’t expensive, and can provide dramatic benefits to overall appearance.

5.  Face Lifts

Face lifts are also extremely popular, but require long recovery times. Most clients end up happy with the results, but report the process to be quite an ordeal with long healing periods and a requirement for bandages.  Another alternative might be Captique, which injects chemicals into the skin for a more youthful appearance. It effectively reduces aging without the long recovery times of a traditional face life.

What about all the new non surgical procedures

I'd say some of the fastest growing advancements in the cosmetic surgery space are the non-surgical procedures. Skin Peels, Microdermabrasion, Laser hair removal etc. Good article but definitely worth expanding on into these new fast growing areas.
