Please see below for information on Dr. Perretz

Perry M. Perretz, D.O.

Dr. Perretz is a board-certified specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

He has spent over twenty years building the foundations of his integrative practice in musculoskeletal pain elimination and non-surgical orthopedics.

Dr. Perretz started medical school after first working as a licensed acupuncturist for eight years. The patients he saw were the challenging cases, often having seen eight or ten doctors prior to visiting him. His success with these patients fueled his desire even more, and led him to study osteopathy, an approach to medicine that emphasizes functional anatomy as well as manual techniques to restore optimal performance. He is one of a small handful of doctors in the country to have integrated these philosophies and skills in his approach to medicine.

After completing medical school at the University of New England, and a residency at the University of Chicago, Dr. Perretz and his family moved to Connecticut.

Among the many tools he uses are:

?

Prolotherapy, or Reconstructive Injection Therapy to help restore torn tendons and ligaments?

Neural Therapy, to treat scars and other energetic blocks

?

Osteopathic Manipulation

?

Trigger Point Injections, to help relax spasmodic muscles

?

Acupuncture

?

Low Level Laser Therapy, with frequency-specific biofeedback capabilities

His first exposure to prolotherapy was as a patient, himself. After tearing ligaments while skiing, he could not fully straighten nor fully bend his right knee for over four months. Only four days after prolotherapy, however, he felt his knee had completely healed! Now, athletes seek him out for prolotherapy to restore their joints to high-level function, while others have sought his care just to help them get back on their feet.

Dr. Perretz has lectured at conferences on integrative healing, and has served as a preceptor for students from Bastyr and the University of Bridgeport Colleges of Naturopathic Medicine. His broad knowledge and warm, intuitive manner have attracted patients from throughout the northeast, and around the country.

Testimonial from Dr. Perretz:  FOOT DROP

I recently evaluated and treated a fifty-nine year-old woman who had experienced a left-sided foot drop after a surgical intervention that had nicked the sciatic nerve.  We treated the L5 and S1 nerve roots, the myotomes, the cortical motor-sensory strip and the cerebellum with the Erchonia laser, and the strength in her foot extensor improved immediately!  We repeated these treatments three times in the course of a month, and included prolotherapy to strengthen the ligaments in the ankle.

She is now walking without a foot brace and corset for the first time in six years!

Case #2:  BRACHIAL PLEXUS INJURY

Another woman in her fifties woke up from shoulder surgery unable to lift her left arm, and experiencing terrrible pain.  Somewhere during her hospital stay, she had suffered an injury to the nerves under her armpit.

After just two minutes of exposure to the low level laser's appropriate frequencies, her pain diminished to a negligible level, pehaps "2" on a scale of "10."  This pain reduction lasted for a day only, but repeated application of the laser has helped, and she is regaining more function in her hand and forearm.  I am aware that she would have regained this function without benefit of the laser, but her pain has been reduced during this difficult period of adjustment.
