Medical & Integrative Medicine
Medical & Integrative Medicine
FDA-cleared, non-thermal platforms for adjunctive care.
Procedure-light. Recovery-light. Built to sit inside the workflow you already run.
As medical practices expand into procedure-light and adjunctive therapies, the technologies worth adopting are the ones that integrate into established clinical workflows without adding procedural risk or recovery burden. Erchonia’s non-thermal laser systems deliver wavelength-specific light energy for defined FDA-cleared indications — musculoskeletal pain, low back pain, dermatological applications and fat reduction — and are engineered for structured implementation in medical, multidisciplinary and integrative care environments.

Where laser therapy fits
Adjunctive, not disruptive.
Erchonia systems don’t replace an existing treatment model. They support the protocols you already run — while maintaining operational efficiency.
Implementation typically occurs as an adjunct within existing care plans, supporting patient management across defined indications. Nothing is heated, cut or numbed; nothing is prescribed. A session fits inside the appointment you already booked, runs hands-on or hands-free, and carries no consumables — so the marginal cost of a treatment is room time. The platforms are commonly integrated within pain management, orthopedic and sports medicine, PM&R, integrative and functional medicine, medical weight-loss and aesthetic-medical hybrid practices.

| Setting | Where it is used | How it is delivered |
|---|---|---|
| Pain management clinics | Adjunctive relief of chronic neck, shoulder and low back pain of musculoskeletal origin | Standalone series or layered into the existing visit |
| Orthopedic and sports medicine | Musculoskeletal nociceptive pain; postoperative pain | Pre- and post-procedure adjunct |
| Physical medicine and rehabilitation | Multi-session pain protocols alongside exercise and manual therapy | Hands-free scanner runs while the therapist works |
| Integrative and functional medicine | Drug-free adjunct within a broader care plan | Same-visit, short sessions |
| Medical weight-loss programs | Circumference reduction, BMI up to 40 | Structured multi-week protocol |
| Aesthetic-medical hybrid practices | Cellulite appearance; inflammatory acne; onychomycosis | Elective, package-priced service line |
The question isn’t whether laser therapy belongs in medicine. It’s which indications you treat, and which platform is cleared for them.
The mechanism
How photobiomodulation works
Photochemistry, not heat. Nothing is burned, cut or numbed.
01

Absorption
Photons are absorbed by chromophores in the cell — chiefly cytochrome c oxidase in the mitochondria. Absorption is wavelength-specific, which is why Erchonia engineers discrete violet (405 nm), green (520 nm) and red (635 nm) diodes rather than broad-spectrum output.
02

Energy production
Absorption drives ATP synthesis upward — the treated cell has more energy available for repair, signaling and regulation.
03

Circulation
The same event releases nitric oxide, supporting the microcirculation that moves oxygen and substrates to recovering tissue.
04

A response beyond the beam
Signaling mediators circulate, so measured effects aren’t confined to the spot under the laser — a systemic response to a local, precisely placed stimulus.
A small, precise input and a response the body generates itself — the reason a non-thermal laser can sit beside a surgical or pharmacological plan without competing with it.
Regulatory alignment
Indication-based use
Erchonia became the first company to receive FDA clearance for low-level laser therapy and continues to hold more FDA clearances than all other manufacturers combined within this category. Platforms across the portfolio are cleared for defined indications including:
01
Neck and shoulder pain
Adjunctive use in providing temporary relief of minor chronic neck and shoulder pain of musculoskeletal origin.
02
Low back pain
Adjunctive treatment of chronic low back pain — the FX Series clearance, established on a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.
03
Musculoskeletal pain
Adjunctive treatment of overall musculoskeletal nociceptive pain.
04
Postoperative pain
Adjunctive treatment of postoperative pain — a drug-free layer in the recovery plan.
05
Inflammatory acne
Treatment of moderate inflammatory acne vulgaris on selected platforms.
06
Onychomycosis
Treatment of onychomycosis (nail fungus) — no oral antifungal, no liver panel.
07
Circumference reduction
Circumference reduction in individuals with a BMI up to 40 — the population most contouring devices exclude.
08
Cellulite
Temporary reduction in the appearance of cellulite.
Prescription use (21 CFR 801 Subpart D). Intended for medical professionals. Clearances are platform-specific — our clinical team will map the indication you treat to the system cleared for it.
Why Erchonia
Why Erchonia, specifically
High-energy, not high-powered. And a pedigree you can cite.

Power counts photons. Energy is what each photon can do.
Wattage measures photon quantity — and in tissue, excess quantity becomes heat. A photon’s energy is set by wavelength: Erchonia’s 405 nm violet carries ~3.06 eV, over one and a half times the ~1.95 eV of 635 nm red. Photochemistry at milliwatt power, where the biphasic dose principle is respected by design. Class IV devices marketed on wattage deliver enormous photon quantities whose individual photons carry less energy; the dominant effect is thermal.

The evidence habit started here.
Erchonia earned the first FDA market clearance ever granted for low-level laser therapy — and has built 25 clearances since 1996 on double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trials. When a colleague, a patient or a payer asks why you trust it, you can hand them the trial design.

Built for the clinic you already run.
Handheld systems move room to room with you; stand-mounted scanners run hands-free while staff see the next patient. No consumables, no applicator cards, and sessions short enough to sit inside a booked visit.

Adjunctive, not disruptive
No incision. No downtime. No new workflow.
Practice settings
Three environments, one platform philosophy
Where Erchonia systems are most commonly integrated — and how.

01
Pain management and PM&R
Chronic neck, shoulder and low back pain are the visits that fill the schedule. A hands-free scanner protocol runs beside exercise and manual therapy — a drug-free option for the patient who has exhausted conservative care and is one visit from an injection referral.

02
Orthopedic and sports medicine
Musculoskeletal nociceptive pain and postoperative pain are both cleared indications. The laser slots in pre- and post-procedure, in the training room or the clinic, without altering the surgical or rehab plan.

03
Medical weight-loss and aesthetic-medical
The Emerald is cleared for circumference reduction in patients with a BMI up to 40 — the population most contouring devices turn away and the one most likely to be enrolled in a structured weight-management program. Cellulite, acne and onychomycosis clearances round out the elective service line.

The practice case

Clinical fit
Non-thermal, non-invasive and cleared for defined indications on level-1 evidence. No pharmaceuticals, no tissue damage, no conflict with concurrent surgical, pharmacological or rehabilitative care.

Patient fit
Patients are increasingly seeking alternatives to opioids, injections and surgery. “Drug-free, cleared on placebo-controlled trials” is an easier yes than “let’s try another prescription” — and a reason the procedure-averse patient stays in your care plan instead of leaving it.

Business fit
No consumables. After acquisition, the marginal cost of a session is room time.
Hands-free delivery. Scanner protocols run unattended, so one room and one staff member produce more in a day.
Cash-pay and adjunct revenue. Elective indications are package-priced; pain protocols add service depth to visits you already book.
Systems
Matched to the indication, not sold off a shelf
Pain, dermatology or fat reduction — there is a cleared platform for the indication you treat.
