Dr. Casillas is a second-generation veterinarian from Los Angeles. Although growing up with a passion for music and art, Veterinary medicine became second nature for him; growing up in and on top of his father's animal hospital and being able to work with his father at a young age, he had an innate love for animals and took a great fascination with the power to heal them.
He graduated at only 24 years of age from Ross University. He has been successfully practicing for over 25 years. He has established and sold two large veterinary hospitals, earning the great respect of his peers; he was nominated and was president of the Southeast chapter of the Southern California Veterinary Association for several years—he is currently the Chief of staff of Tender loving Care animal hospital.
Throughout the years, he has advanced his training with certification courses in pain management, emergency critical care, veterinary chiropractic, soft tissue surgery, stem cells, regenerative medicine, lasers, laser safety, business and practice management, and advanced dentistry. He is a loving family man with six children, one dog, and one cat. He loves sports, scuba diving, sport-fishing, car collecting, travel, and spending quality time with his family.
Dr. Starr graduated from Michigan State University in 2000 and has been a part of the Suttons Bay and Elk Rapids Animal Hospitals since September 2005. She enjoys relieving pain and discomfort of an animal and helping restore the family relationship with the pet. Dr. Starr is particularly interested in Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation (VOM), laser therapy and nutrition. At home, she has an English Creme Retriever named Esca, and a horse named Mickey. Gardening, horseback riding, and volunteering at the school are activities Dr. Starr enjoys outside of work. She also likes to spend time with her husband Jay and three children, Abraham, Jonah and Ari.
